A native of Argentina, Gabriela earned a Master’s
Degree in Music from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama
in London, UK, where she studied under the tutelage of Vera
Rozsa. She then moved to the United States and was a Young
Artist at DiCapo Opera Theater for the 2002/2003 season.
Since moving to New York, Gabriela has performed the role
of Manon at the Shaker Mountain Festival, Susanna at CAMI
Hall, Barbarina at Voorhees Theater with Opera Company of
Brooklyn, Amahl at St Paul’s Church, and she made her
Carnegie Hall debut performing the Sandman from Hänsel & Gretel
in the Weill Recital Hall with Pacific Opera. She has also
performed as a soloist in churches in Manhattan as well as
the NY Metropolitan area. Her oratorio performances include
the Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Vivaldi Gloria, Mendelssohn’s
Midsummer Night Dream and the New York première of
Händel’s Gloria. She has recently performed in
various Gala Fundraising concerts, including the Edgewater
Arts Council in New Jersey and the Santo Niño RC Church
in the Philippines. Gabriela was invited to perform for the
United Nations ceremony commemorating the second anniversary
of September 11th at St Bart’s Church in Manhattan.
Amongst her operatic roles, she has performed Manon (Massenet’s
Manon), Susanna, Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Amahl (Amahl
and the Night Visitors), Nora (Vaughn Williams’ Riders
to the Sea), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Papagena and Pamina
(Magic Flute) in fully-staged productions. Among her workshop
performances are the roles of Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice),
Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Norina (Don Pasquale) Monica (Medium),
Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Poppea (L’incoronazione
di Poppea).
She has sung under the direction of Jim Mahady, Stephen
Cannon, Christopher Cowell, Stuart Maunder, Stephen Medcalf,
Betty Gambartes and Jorge Della Saletta and under the baton
of James Morgan, Denes Striney, Jay Meetze, Damian Cranmer,
Benjamin Zander, Juan Burgers and Bruno van Dyk. Ms Berardone
has had the privilege to work with musicians such as Graham
Johnson, Robin Bowman, Leslie Howard, Charlie Riecker, Paul
Hamburger, Sarah Walker, Stuart Burrows, Vicenzo Laferla
and Vera Rozsa.
An active recitalist, Gabriela has a vast art song repertoire,
and her interpretation of French song made her the recipient
of the Special Presentation Award from Artists International
Presentations. Gabriela has performed song recitals in London
at the Barbican, Emma Cons Hall, the Holst Room, the Rudolph
Steiner House, St Stephen’s Church and the Recital
Hall at the Guildhall, as well as in venues throughout Europe,
the US and Argentina.
